Summary

Daily Wave runs no server of its own. In the default state, with the optional AI voice off, your settings, location, calendar, health data and watchlist are never sent off your device, and the only data we receive is anonymous usage statistics that identify no individual. Connecting a mail account is optional; when you do, only unread and important counts are read, never message content. The AI voice is optional too, and turning it on sends the briefing text to Google using your own API key.

Device permissions and how they are used

Location
Used only to look up weather for your current location and travel time for your commute. Coordinates are not stored.
On-device
Calendar & Reminders
Reads today's events and items due soon so they can be spoken in the briefing. Read-only; the content is discarded right after playback.
On-device
Health data
Reads steps, distance, walking and running workouts and, from iOS 26 on, the medication doses logged in the Health app, so they can be spoken in the briefing. Read-only; nothing is written back. The data stays on your device unless you turn the optional AI voice on, in which case the sentence to be spoken — which can include medication names — is sent to Google's speech service to be voiced. Medication names are spoken only if you switch that on yourself.
On-device
Media & Apple Music
Starts the playback target you chose once the briefing ends.
On-device
Bluetooth connection state
Only checks whether a Bluetooth device is connected, to decide when a briefing should auto-play.
On-device
Notifications
When a connected device triggers a briefing but iOS will not let the app start audio in the background, a local notification offers to play it. Sent from your device only; nothing is sent to a server.
